Another cougar sighting in Langford has prompted a warning from RCMP.

In a media release, West Shore RCMP said the cougar was spotted in the 500 block of Treanor Avenue at around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday night.

The feline was seen in the backyard of a residence before jumping the fence.

Officers conducted patrols in the area and did not lcoate the cougar.

“Police have notified BC Conservation Services and we only received one reported sighting of the cougar, however given the proximity to residences and a nearby school we wish to inform the public of the sighting,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.

Several cougars have been seen in the West Shore area over the past month, including one who had killed a deer outside a family home in Colwood.

The family filmed the cougar from inside their house as it nervously walked up to its catch.
