The Klitsa will not be sailing the Saanich Inlet today because the required number of crew members could not be secured.
Many commuters will have to resort to their only other option to travel the route which is the Malahat Highway.
Taking the ferry across the inlet takes 25 minutes while the drive takes around 50 minutes, provided there are no traffic delays.
BC Ferries says that they made the decision in concurrence with Transport Canada’s regulations on the specific number of crew members needed to operate the ferry safely.
They said they tried their hardest to find a replacement crew but came up empty-handed.
“The decision to cancel a sailing in these circumstances is made when we have exhausted all options to find replacement crew,” said BC Ferries cancellation notice.
“That said, if circumstances change and replacement crew become available, we will notify customers immediately.”
#ServiceNotice As BC Ferries has been unsuccessful in securing the required number of crew on the #Klitsa all sailings today between #BrentwoodBay and #MillBay have been cancelled.
