Friday means getting out with friends and family to enjoy what life is all about — connection, experience, and memories.

And that is exactly what you’ll find in the events we have compiled for you, so get to it and choose how you wish to celebrate your evening!

Here’s 5 things to do in and around Victoria on Friday, July 28th:

Indigenous Music Festival

Returning to the city for its 3rd year, the IYAḴT Indigenous Music Festival will be taking over Hampton Park on Friday, July 28th and Saturday, July 29th.

All of the available performances are free to attend and there will be food and beverages available for purchase from their selection of food trucks!

Artists to expect include Nate Harris, Annishinabe Mitchel Sisters, Auntie Kate and the Uncles of Funk,  Paint the Town Red and Johnston’s very own band known as OTR.

Additionally, if you’re looking for artisanal gifts and items there will be a variety of vendors on site for you to browse.

Patio Party at Vancouver Island Brewing

Not only is Vancouver Island Brewing celebrating the renovation of their patio, they’re also celebrating the release of their newest addition to the VIB beer family!

Say hello to PATIO PARTY Guava Wheat Ale — a taproom exclusive that’s perfect for the summer.

A DJ will be kicking off the event at 4 p.m. and PATION PARTY will be on special all night with $6 pints and $5 sleeves!

Missing Link will on site grilling up some hotdogs and there will be a sweet summer prize package for a lucky winner, so make sure you enter to win.

Government House Gardenfest

The BC Government House invites you to stop by and join their celebration of community at their free outdoor garden party!

Entertainment like live performances, lawn games, a petting zoo, bouncy castles, and more will be available to you and your family.

Performances will include music and dance from Ballet Victoria, the Victoria Conservatory of Music, Pacific Opera Victoria and Lieutenant Governor Arts, and Music Award recipient Dan Alder!

Open Jam at Quadratic Sound

Hang with old pals and make some new ones at this welcoming and inclusive music event at Quadratic Sound!

Julien Amar, a performing musician and music therapist at the Victoria Conservatory of Music will be around to pass on his knowledge and guidance.

Amar’s set will run from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. followed by the open jam!

Admission will be $15 for members and an additional $5 for non-members.

Goodnight Sunrise and Hyaenas at Vinyl Envy

Explosive and high-energy — this is the night you can expect if you come and party with Vinyl Envy and their lineup of musicians!

Goodnight Sunrise is a rock band drawing on pop hooks and the raw power of classic rock to create the ultimate experience for audiences.

They’ve opened for bands like Bon Jovi, Monster Truck, and The Sheepdogs!

Hyaenas takes the stage with wonderful ferocity — this indie-rock band wows crowds with their powerful lyrics and chemistry and they’re ready to wow you too.

They’re making waves across Western Canada and their endeavors have taken them to the Squamish Constellation Festival, Coldsnap Festival, Pride Festivals in Vancouver, and more!

Tickets are $22 and can be purchased on Eventbrite.
