A large fire that gutted a commercial heritage building in downtown Victoria Sunday night has been ruled as suspicious.
Following this fire, VicPD’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) are now investigating three fires in the area, two have been confirmed as arson.
On June 16th, fire crews were called to a large blaze that destroyed Ricky’s All Day Grill at Douglas and Burnside Road.
About a week later, on June 23rd, a fire caused significant damage to a vehicle at the Enterprise Rent-A-Car in the 2500-block of Government Street.

On Sunday, July 2nd, just a few buildings down from the second blaze, a fire engulfed a three-storey character building, resulting in the complete destruction of the structure, which was undergoing renovation at the time.
“This area of Victoria has definitely been through the wringer,” the Victoria Fire Department said in an Instagram post.
While investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the Sunday night fire, VicPD said the fire is considered suspicious.
Investigators have not determined if these fires are linked and no arrests have been made.
