Oak Bay Police blocked off a section of Beach Drive Wednesday morning following the discovery of a body nearby.
Around 8 a.m., two people walking along the 200-block of Beach Drive noticed a body in the bushes which would turn out to be a deceased man.
The stretch of road is closed between Monterey Avenue to King George Terrace as investigators and detectives from Saanich Police Department assisted Oak Bay Police with the investigation.
A forensic team also joined the detectives along with a representative from the coroners office.
In a tweet, Oak Bay Police confirmed Beach Drive would be closed between Monterey Avenue and King George Terrace for several hours.
A closure to all traffic is in effect on Beach Drive between Monterey Ave and King George Terrace. Oak Bay Police & Saanich Major Crime Officers are on scene investigating the discovery of a body in the 200 block of Beach Dr. Road closure will be in effect for several hours.

Police say more details will be released later on Wednesday.
At this time, the cause of death and identification of the individual have not been revealed by the BC Coroners Service or Oak Bay Police.
