(John Robertson 2019 Victoria Flamenco Festival)

Get your dancing shoes ready, Victoria!

And prepare yourselves to experience the passionate and mesmerizing world of southern Spain as the 11th Annual Victoria Flamenco Festival returns this weekend.

Presented by the Flamenco de la Isla Society, this festival, which runs from July 22nd to July 29th.

Organizers promise a vibrant celebration of flamenco artistry, featuring local and international artists who will showcase bold and haunting rhythms through dance, song, guitar, and percussion.

This year, the festival has a special treat in store, offering both FREE and ticketed events in-person and online.

With the challenges posed by the pandemic, the society has had to adapt and innovate to keep the festival alive.

The outdoor free events, which are usually held at Centennial Square, will find a new home at the picturesque Cameron Bandshell in Beacon Hill Park.

While the decision is driven by current organizational and financial limitations, it opens up new possibilities for a lively and inspiring event.

The festival will kick off with exciting in-person performances at the Cameron Bandshell on July 22nd and 23rd.

If you prefer to enjoy the performances from the comfort of your own home, online presentations will be available throughout the week, starting from Monday, July 24th.

On Thursday, July 27th, the music night at The Mint will enchant audiences, and the grand finale, “Bienvenida Prima!.. welcome cousin!” will captivate theatergoers at Denford Hall Theatre on July 28th.

As the festival comes to a close, don’t miss the opportunity to participate in Flamenco dance workshops on Saturday, July 29th!

While the decision to move the outdoor events to the Bandshell is for this year only, the Society hopes to return to Centennial Square next year, as it has been a successful venue for the festival in the past.

So, mark your calendars, and let the 11th Annual Victoria Flamenco Festival transport you to the passionate world of flamenco, celebrating the resilience of arts organizations and the joy of live performances.

Whether you’re attending in-person or tuning in online, get ready to be enchanted by the magic of flamenco at this year’s festival.
