Share

What are Fridays good for, you ask?

Well, we’ve picked only the best and most exciting because it’s nearly the weekend!

Not just one, but two outdoor movies for your enjoyment are screening, a couple of great live music performances, and a drop-in choir if you feel more like singing as opposed to listening.

Without further delay, here’s 5 things to do in and around Victoria on Friday, August 18th:

Outdoor Movie Series in Bullen Park

Put your Wes Anderson-loving hands together for this Friday’s movie — Fantastic Mr. Fox!

This amazing outdoor movie experience is a part of a large movie series running in Bullen Park throughout the month of August.

Same as always, they ask that you come prepared with your own blankets and lawn chairs to make this a fun and relaxing event.

If you’re feeling snacky, Country Crepes will be there to sell their delicious food!

  • Where: 527 Fraser Street
  • When: Friday, August 18th at 8:30 p.m.

All Together Now Drop-in Choir

Perform with a live band, meet new pals, and test out that ready-to-burst singing voice!

To begin, Marc Jenkins, director of Victoria’s The Choirs YYJ, will walk everyone through some Talking Heads songs and once everyone is warmed up, The Choiraoke band will join.

The Choiraoke band features guitarist and vocal expert, Brooke Gallupe (Rugged Uncle/Immaculate Machine)!

There’s no experience or music reading skills required to participate in this fun and inclusive event.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.

  • Where: 1415 Broad Street
  • When: Friday, August 18th at 7 p.m.

Free-B Film Festival

Catch another incredible evening as a part of the huge outdoor movie festival hosted by the Victoria Film Festival happening throughout August!

Just like the previous films, Paris When it Sizzles will screen at Beacon Hill Park at the Cameron Bandshell.

They ask that you bring a blanket, some snacks, a flashlight, and maybe a teddy bear!

There is no cost to enjoy the movie, admission is free — just make sure you pack out what you bring.

Don’t miss out on Napoleon Dynamite, showing on Saturday, August 19th!

  • Where: 250 Bridge Way
  • When: Friday, August 18th at 9 p.m.

Blackwood Kings Farewell Shows

After twelve years as a band, the Blackwood Kings are saying goodbye!

To kick off their hiatus in style, they will be hosting two farewell shows at Quadratic Sound on Friday, August 18th and Saturday, August 19th.

The Friday show will feature guest, SweetLeaf!
