Despite the incoming month of September, the fun around the city won’t be slowing down and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take a break from your regular routine with these cool ideas.

Outdoor Movie Series
Throughout the month of August, a huge lineup of favourite movies have been screening at Bullen Park through the Esquimalt Outdoor Movie Series!
Here for their final show, the series presents Kubo and the Two Strings, which follows the story of a young boy who must locate a magical suit of armour worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past.
This magical family-friendly adventure starts at 8 p.m. and is free to view—just bring your own blankets, chairs, and snacks!

Fringe Festival: Innocence Astray
Presented to audiences as a part of the 2023 Fringe Festival is Innocence Astray by Third Draft Theatre.
You can catch this incredibly thought-provoking piece about the idea of innocence as a fairytale and what happens once you’re innocence is no more.
This show is recommended for audiences no younger than 16-years-old.
Tickets can be purchased here and must be purchased in advance—a Fringe Button is also required to view this show, which is an additional $6 (festival membership cost).

Beautiful Objects Tour at Craigdarroch Castle
Hosted by the renowned Craigdarroch Castle in downtown Victoria, an exclusive tour detailing beautiful objects from the 19th century is being offered to anyone interested.
According to their event page, it was believed that a home interior could exert moral influences on the inhabitants, and that was why people were encouraged to surround themselves with items of great beauty.
The Dunsmuirs of Craigdarroch were no different—and you’ll have permission to snoop and ask loads of questions!
Tickets for this tour are around $35 and can be purchased via Eventbrite.

Drag Bingo at Vicious Poodle
The Vicious Poodle is well known across the city and is said to host some of the most interactive and enjoyable gay bar experiences!
They have plenty of events throughout the week, including their loved Drag Bingo taking place every Wednesday.
Grab your pals and make sure you grab a table as soon as you can—spots fill up fast!

Hermann’s Upstairs Lounge Acoustic Open Mic
Hermann’s Upstairs is offering a free open mic for the music singles, duos, and trios out there hoping to get some extra practice in!
The event is hosted by Kelly Fawcett, described as a powerful, soulful singer and a heavy grooving guitar player—everyone is welcome to sit in with or be supported by him throughout the evening.
Hermann’s has a grand piano and PA system for vocals available for use as well!
Acoustic instruments only, but all genres are welcome.
