Happy mid-week, Victoria!

Due to the long weekend, it feels like this week is flying by.. which means less and less time to enjoy the remaining August days — but don’t panic!

We have a mix of activities you can enjoy with family and friends, both indoor and outdoor (in case it rains), and we’re sure you’ll find something to your liking.

Bring your kidlets to a live concert, catch a Victoria HarbourCats playoff game, check out a world-renowned band here in Victoria, and so much more!

Without further delay, here’s 5 things to do in and around Victoria on Wednesday, August 9th:

Mister Mojo and his Magic Band live!

Come on down to the Cameron Bandshell in Beacon Hill Park for a free and fun live music concert for kids organized by the City of Victoria!

There will be lots of opportunities to dance and sing along with Mister Mojo as he performs songs like ‘Washing Machine’, ‘Monster Party’, and ‘Jump On The Bed’.

As described, this event will be filmed professionally by Lumera Productions and released in part at MisterMojo.ca.

The Paper Kites

You won’t want to miss this one, Victoria!

Capital Ballroom and MRG Live presents The Paper Kites with their special guest, Georgia Harmer.

Don’t miss this Australian indie rock/folk rock band as they pass through Victoria on their world tour!

You may recognize their songs ‘Featherstone’ and ‘Bloom’ from their Woodland EP (released in 2011) as it gained a lot of traction and kickstarted their early-career success.

Outdoor Movie Series

Drum roll, please!

You and your buddies can catch a lineup of favourite movies for free at Bullen Park with the Esquimalt Outdoor Movie Series event throughout the month of August!

It’ll kick off with The Princess Bride this Wednesday!

If you’re feeling snacky, the Esquimalt Lions Club will be selling popcorn and Country Crepes food truck will be there selling delicious crepes.

Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs and get cozy!

Beacon Hill Art Walks

Throughout August you can join local therapeutic artist, Helga Strauss, as she leads an Art Walk to and through beautiful Beacon Hill Park.

The first of these relaxing walks is this Wednesday — check out Emily Carr’s favourite sketching spots and soak up inspiration from the surrounding landscape!

It’s open to all skill levels and you may bring your own art supplies or use the ones they happily provide.

The registration fee for this event is $25 and can be purchased here.

Victoria HarbourCats Playoff Game

Hop on over to The Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park!

An epic night of baseball can be one of the best fixes after a long day and the Victoria HarbourCats are ready to deliver!

Get ready for their first nail-biting playoff game against the Wenatchee AppleSox — if Victoria wins this, there will be a game on Thursday, August 10th as well, so stay tuned.
