If you’re making Labour Day long weekend plans, you’ll want to write this one down!
The beloved Saanich Fair is ready to welcome you for their 155th year — complete with a stacked weekend of crowd favourites and wild entertainment from Saturday, September 2nd to Monday, September 4th.
This year’s theme is “Jammin’ at the Fair” and the feature is Preserved Foods.
“We always have a jam section, but that’s the main theme this year,” Dave Hamer, a Director of Saanich Fair told Victoria Buzz.
“People enter different jams and jellies for contests…that’s what the fair is all about; many people enter stuff…best vegetables, biggest pumpkin, that sort of thing.”
Ribbons and small cash prizes will be awarded to the lucky gardeners, growers, and farmers for their winning entries!

Additionally, you can expect a wide variety of entertainment such as live music, animals, prize vegetables, food trucks, Midway rides, and more!
“Bingo is back! [It] hasn’t been there for a few years, [and there’s] music all day long,” Hamer said.
The Rotary Club of Sidney BC will be hosting bingo all weekend from around 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Music performances will complement their designated genre days — Saturday being Country Day and Sunday is Rock Day.
Headliners for the weekend will include country star Saturday headliner, Aaron Pritchett, who has been nominated for several prestigious awards including the Juno Awards and CCMA Awards and is known for his charisma and sincerity.
Pritchett will take the stage Saturday, September 2nd at 8 p.m.!
PRISM, known as the “Spaceship Superstar,” will be headlining for Rock Day. They’ve sold millions of albums, won two Juno Awards for Album and Group of the Year, and they have multi-platinum albums.
PRISM is set to perform on Sunday, September 3rd at 8 p.m.!
Another musician Hamer noted was British-Canadian singer-songwriter, and guitarist Brett Smith-Daniels — he’s been dubbed “the future of rock and roll” and has played with members of The Rolling Stones, Teddy Andreadis from Guns N’ Roses, and more.
Smith-Daniels will play on Sunday, September 3rd from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.!

Admission prices to enter the fair grounds are as follows:
- Adults (14 years of age and older): $15
- Youth (7-13 years): $10
- Seniors (over 65 years): $10

Midway wristbands are $35 in advance of the fair’s opening day and $45 after that. Ride, food, and game credits are an additional $1 for each credit.
Hamer knows it’ll be another great year of family-friendly fun and hopes to see you there.
“We want everyone to have a great time!” Hamer said.
