Don’t be alarmed if you spotted a military helicopter landing at CFB Esquimalt today!

At around 12:30 p.m. Friday, a Royal Canadian Air Force CH-148 Cyclone landed in the area of CFB Esquimalt’s Work Point property, producing some noise and affecting traffic in the area.

This landing was part of a demonstration for the Royal Canadian Navy’s Raven Program for Indigenous youth.

The national program is designed to build bridges with Indigenous communities throughout the country and offer part-time or full-time employment with the Canadian Armed Forces  upon successful completion of the course.

Residents of Victoria West and Esquimalt and boaters around McLoughlin Point and the Victoria Harbour entrance likely heard the activity, which did not last more than three hours.
