With post-secondary school classes beginning next week, Victoria is expected to receive an influx of international students ready and excited to study in our city!
And as we all know, moving can be scary, but relocating to an entirely new country is especially daunting.
It is for this reason that the Vancouver Public Education Alliance (VPEA), a local education agency based in Victoria, has decided to open a booth in the Victoria airport to assist in the process and provide information and support.
The information booth opened on August 28th and will remain stationed until September 4th—running between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
“Our primary focus is to offer academic and lifestyle support to international students studying in our region,” said Margaret Hu, a representative of VPEA.
“This booth is specifically designed to aid international students who have recently arrived in Victoria, with a particular emphasis on those from China.”
According to the Canadian Bureau for International Education, nearly 170,000 international students studied in BC alone in 2022 and 4,000 of those attended the University of Victoria!
Across Canada, the total number of students reached just over 800,000 students, which is a 31% increase from 2021.
We welcome you to the city, incoming students!
