West Shore RCMP stop erratic driver swerving in and out of traffic in Metchosin

Share

On August 24th, just after 5 p.m., a Black 2012 Mazda was reported to West Shore RCMP for erratic driving.

The driver reportedly tried to pass a vehicle over a double solid line and was said to have been taking wide sweeping turns, nearly striking oncoming traffic on Sooke Road near Kangaroo Road in Metchosin.

According to police, they only received one official report of the vehicle, but several comments were popping up on social media regarding the erratic driving behaviour.

“We wish to inform the public that police did stop this driver and the vehicle was towed,” said Nancy Saggar West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.

Officers attended the area and located the vehicle — identifying the driver as a 40-year-old woman who was allegedly experiencing a mental health crisis.

She was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to the hospital to receive care.
