

A swarm of quakes off the coast of northern Vancouver Island has Earthquakes Canada monitoring the situation.
Just this morning alone, a series of three earthquakes occurred in the vicinity of Port Hardy.

The first earthquake had a magnitude of 4.2, and took place at at 2:58 a.m. Sunday, September 17th. Following that, a more substantial quake with a magnitude of 5.5 struck at 4:28 a.m. on the same date.

Finally, a third earthquake, registering a magnitude of 4.0, occurred at 8:19 a.m., also on September 17th.
The distance of the epicentres ranged from 178 kilometres to 192 kilometres west of Port Hardy.
Since September 14th, the agency says it has detected over 30 quakes in the area.
There are no reports of any damage from today’s quakes.
No tsunami is expected.
