76-year-old killed after being struck by vehicle in Saanich

UPDATE: Saanich Police origally reported the victim as being 55-years-old but have since updated her age to 76.

A crash in Saanich Friday night has left one person dead.

The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. on Friday September 1st on Interurban Road at Grange Road.

According to Saanich Police, a 76-year-old woman was in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle.

Tragically, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained on scene.

Police say collision analysts are investigating the cause of the collision and have so far determined that speed and impairment are not considered to be factors.
