Police investigate alleged sexual assault at Puntledge River in Courtenay

Comox Valley RCMP are investigating a sexual assault along the Puntledge River in Courtenay.

The incident occurred on Saturday, September 2nd near a rope swing in the Maple Pool area of the river.

Police are actively investigating the case and are seeking witnesses.

“Police are looking for anyone who was travelling the river in that area between 3 to 10 p.m. during that day as they may have crucial information about this incident,” according to Comox Valley RCMP.

The Puntledge River runs from Comox Lake, past the Inland Island Highway, to Courtenay, where the strip near Puntledge Park is popular with tubers during the summer months.

Police said further details of the incident could not be released due to the sensitive nature of the case.
