Two young men were transported to hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing in Sooke Saturday evening.

At around 6 p.m., RCMP were called to an incident in the 6600 block of Sooke Road after an altercation between a group of individuals ended in a stabbing incident, leaving two men seriously injured.

Police, along with members of the public performed first aid on the victims until paramedics arrived and took them to hospital.

Both victims were subsequently transported to the hospital to receive treatment for their serious injuries.

Sooke RCMP said preliminary investigations indicate that an altercation broke out among a group of individuals, escalating to a point where two men were stabbed.

“The events leading up to the altercation are also carefully being investigated,” said police in a media release.

The alleged suspect, a 21-year-old man, was located near the scene and promptly taken into custody.

Police said the incident appears to be isolated and believe there is no further risk to the public.

The gravity of the situation was further highlighted when the mother of one of the victims took to social media to provide an update on her 17-year-old son and his friend’s condition.

According to her post, her son sustained five stab wounds, a punctured lung, and a cut artery during the altercation.

His friend, also a victim of the stabbing, suffered six stab wounds. Both individuals underwent surgery to address their injuries. As of the latest update, the son remains in critical but stable condition, while his friend is in serious but stable condition.

Details surrounding the altercation have not been released.
