Two years later: Family of man murdered in Victoria hopes for answers soon

The investigation into the tragic murder of Jeremy Gordaneer on August 31st, 2021, in Victoria continues to be a focus for his family.

The homicide unfolded at the residence of Jeremy’s mother in the 1000-block of Carberry Gardens in which police have provided few details about the homicide.

At the time of his death, Jeremy was living in Edmonton, but was visiting Victoria to be with his mother.

His wife, Thea Patterson, saw her husband for the last time on August 29th, 2021, when she drove him to the Edmonton airport to catch his flight to Victoria.

At approximately 5 a.m. on the day of the incident, VicPD officers were called to Jeremy’s mothers home located on a quiet street in the Rockland area.

Police, along with paramedics, attended the scene, where they located 49-year-old Jeremy suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Officers and paramedics administered emergency first aid, however, he died from his injuries.

Detectives with VicPD’s Major Crime Unit were called to the scene, determining the incident to be a homicide.

While unconfirmed, sources say Jeremy was shot in his mother’s home and there were several people in the residence at the time.

Subsequently, the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) assumed control of the investigation, bringing with them their specialized resources and expertise to dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding Gordaneer’s death.

Jeremy was more than just a victim; he was a father and brother deeply loved by his family.

In 2022, his family, including his sister Alisa and daughters Clea and Sylvie, shared personal stories about Jeremy in a heartfelt video.

They portrayed him as a loving and caring individual, highlighting his role as a father and brother. In this video, they made a heartfelt appeal to the public for information that could shed light on the tragic events leading to his death.

Clea Gordaneer, Jeremy’s daughter, expressed her longing for answers, stating, “I miss just having a dad. I think we’re really hoping for some answers. Someone took our dad away. So I think we just really want to know what happened and why we don’t get to have a dad anymore.”

Two years later, Gordaneer’s family continues to appeal to the public for help in the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, no arrests have been made.
