Now, fans in Victoria are in for a special treat as Tom Cochrane is set to take the stage, and joining him as the opening act is none other than Vancouver Island’s very own singer-songwriter, Ryan McMahon.
Cochrane’s remarkable journey from a folk-based singer-songwriter to a Canadian rock legend has been nothing short of inspiring.
His music has resonated with generations, and his contributions extend beyond the stage, with his unwavering support for humanitarian causes such as World Vision, Amnesty International, and War Child.
As the lead singer and songwriter of Red Rider, Cochrane left an indelible mark on the music scene with hits like “Lunatic Fringe,” “Victory Day,” “Human Race,” “Boy Inside the Man,” “White Hot,” and the chart-topping “Big League.”
Transitioning to a solo career, he catapulted to international fame with the anthemic hit “Life Is a Highway” from the critically acclaimed album “Mad Mad World,” which achieved Diamond Status in Canada and earned him a Grammy nomination in the United States.
Cochrane’s impressive accolades include eight Juno awards, a place in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, and being invested as an Officer of the Order of Canada.

McMahon, hailing from Ladysmith, has been making waves in the Canadian music scene with his soulful and evocative music. As a solo artist and as a member of the folk/rock band the lion the bear the fox, McMahon’s heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies have struck a chord with audiences across the nation.
Having honed his craft on Vancouver Island, McMahon brings a unique blend of west coast influences to his music.
