Two Victoria Royals defenders named as players to watch for the upcoming 2024 NHL Draft

Two Victoria Royals defenders have been added to the list of preliminary WHL players to watch for the for the highly anticipated 2024 NHL draft.

The Western Hockey League (WHL) recently announced that 63 WHL players have been named to NHL Central Scouting’s ‘Preliminary Players to Watch’ list.

Among these prospects are two promising defenders from the Victoria Royals, Nate Misskey and Seth Fryer, who have received a ‘W’ rating from NHL Central Scouting.

NHL Central Scouting utilizes a comprehensive rating system with five distinct categories to evaluate the potential of young talents.

These categories range from ‘A’ for first-round candidates, ‘B’ for second- or third-round candidates, ‘C’ for fourth- or fifth-round candidates, and the new ‘W’ rating, indicating players projected to be selected in the sixth or seventh rounds.

Additionally, the ‘LV’ rating represents players who, due to injuries or limited viewings, have not received sufficient evaluation.

With both Victoria Royals defenders being recognized with the ‘W’ rating, signifies their potential as sixth- or seventh-round candidates in the upcoming 2024 NHL draft.

The WHL boasts a total of 63 players on NHL Central Scouting’s ‘Preliminary Players to Watch’ List, leading the entire Canadian Hockey League (CHL), which includes the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

In total, 161 CHL players are listed, underlining the talent pool that the WHL continues to produce and nurture.
