A 22-year-old old man is lucky to have suffered only minor injuries after crashing his car over the weekend.

In a media release, Westshore RCMP said they responded to a single-vehicle collision that was reported to have flipped over near Bear Mountain Parkway and Echo Valley Drive.

On Saturday, November 18th at around 9:50 p.m., an officer was patrolling on Millstream Avenue in Langford when they were flagged down by a witness who advised a vehicle had just rolled over

The officer attended the scene and located the upturned vehicle down the street near Bear Mountain Parkway and Echo Valley Drive.

It was a white 2018 Toyota Corolla flipped over onto its roof and was a single-vehicle collision with no passengers.

The driver, identified as a 22-year-old man, managed to get out of the vehicle and is said to have sustained minor injuries.

He was asked to provide a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device where it was determined he was over the legal limit of alcohol.

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Driving Prohibition under the Motor Vehicle Act.

“This driver is lucky to have walked away from such a serious collision with only minor injuries. With the holiday season upon us, we would like to remind motorists to please plan for a safe ride home,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.

Police have announced that over the coming weeks, people can expect to see roadblocks around the city checking for driver sobriety and to organize designated drivers.
