Wondering where the famous Gingerbread Showcase is being held this year?
Look no further!
Beloved by all and becoming a family tradition for many, it’s a special holiday treat to be able to take a close look at what the bakers have created for all to enjoy.
This year marks the 15th annual Habitat for Humanity Gingerbread Showcase, and it officially kicked off on November 25th in partnership with Parkwood Place and the Hotel Grand Pacific!
The theme this year is “Family Traditions”, and you can view these masterpieces at the hotel between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily until they take down the showcase on January 4th.
“The whole family will enjoy seeing the entries up close and personal,” said Scott Dutchak, Habitat Victoria’s CEO.
“It seems the bakers try to outdo themselves every year, but you can tell they had real fun with the theme of Family Traditions. I predict a close race for this year’s People’s Choice Award!”
Hotel Grand Pacific is the Gingerbread Showcase’s new location, and the team there is thrilled to be a part of this huge city effort for Habitat for Humanity.
“We are looking forward to welcoming hundreds of generous visitors to see the amazing creations, in support of Habitat Victoria and their mission to build affordable housing,” added Hotel Grand Pacific General Manager, Reid James.
Parkwood Place is really excited to sponsor the event again this year, as well as take action within their own senior community by turning it into a friendly competition between their residents!
“It’s a fun, friendly competition at our seniors community that produces high spirits in both the residents and employees during the holiday season. It’s great to see the joy everyone takes from giving back to the broader community,” said Co-Founder & Principal Farid Damji.
Admission to view the gingerbread creations is free, though all visitors are urged to make a donation when casting a vote for their favourite entry.
By doing so, you’ll be helping Habitat for Humanity reach its goal, and in turn, helping the community!
If you’re not able to attend in person but still want to check out the entries, you can view them and vote online too.
Winners will be announced on January 6th, so stay tuned!
