Heavily armed police raid home for ‘high-risk warrant execution’ in Sidney (PHOTOS)

An incident in Sidney Thursday afternoon was the result of an operation resulting in one person being taken into custody. 

On Thursday, November 23rd, around 3 p.m. a large convoy of police cruisers and SWAT vehicles with heavily armed police officers were seen heading toward the heart of Sidney. 

The incident happened near the intersection of Third Street and Orchard Avenue.

Once the incident had concluded, Victoria Buzz was on the scene and asked officers what had occurred. 

Officers with the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said that they attended the scene as they did for a “high-risk warrant execution.” 

Shortly after at around 3:30 p.m., Cpl. Alex Bérubé, RCMP Media Relations for Vancouver Island told Victoria Buzz, “It is all over now. One man was arrested without incident.” 

“There won’t be anything further,” he concluded. 

“Officers attended a residence in Sidney to attempt an arrest of a high-risk repeat offender with an outstanding warrant. When police arrived, the male barricaded himself in the residence,” said Cst. Tim Cosgrove, Media Relations Officer for the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.

“Vancouver Island ERT responded to assist, they were able to call the suspect out of the residence and he was arrested without incident.”
