Sidney/North Saanich RCMP are actively seeking dashcam video evidence from witnesses following a hit-and-run crash involving multiple vehicles on Sunday evening.
The incident unfolded around 6:15 p.m. on November 5th, along the Patricia Bay Highway, just north of Beacon Avenue.
According to police, one of the vehicles involved in the collision was identified as a black Volkswagen Golf, which was spotted fleeing the scene. RCMP officers are now reaching out to the public for assistance in their ongoing investigation.
Const. Tim Cosgrove, of the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP is urging anyone who may have been traveling on Highway 17 between the Swartz Bay ferry terminal and Beacon Avenue during the evening of November 5th, between 6 p.m. and 6:20 p.m., to come forward.
The crash resulted in one vehicle ending up in a ditch along the 10100-block of Pat Bay Highway.
In an email statement, BC Emergency Health Services confirmed they received a call at 6:20 p.m. about a motor vehicle incident. One ambulance responded. Although paramedics assessed the situation, no patients required transportation to the hospital.
In the aftermath of the incident, RCMP vehicles were seen stationed at multiple locations as they actively searched for the fleeing vehicle.
Specifically, two RCMP cruisers were seen at the corner of Galaran Road and Jahn Place, where a black Volkswagen Golf had been parked.
A police dog was also deployed to the intersection. However, police have not provided any specific details regarding the vehicle in their official release. Victoria Buzz has reached out to RCMP confirming if this vehicle is believed to be the car involved.
