In a proactive move prioritizing customer safety, Honda Canada has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 297,836 vehicles across the country.

The recall aims to address a specific issue related to the fuel pumps in various 2017-2020 Acura and Honda models.

The primary concern centers around the improper molding of the fuel pump impeller, resulting in impellers with lower than required density.

Over time, this manufacturing flaw can lead to the deformation of the impeller, causing interference with the fuel pump body.

Honda says such interference renders the fuel pump inoperative, potentially impacting the engine’s functionality. Should the fuel pump module become inoperative, affected vehicles may encounter difficulties starting or could unexpectedly stall while in motion, heightening the risk of accidents or injuries.

Despite this flaw, Honda Canada reassures owners that there have been no reported crashes or injuries linked to this specific issue. However, in an abundance of caution, the company is initiating this recall to ensure the safety and reliability of the affected vehicles.

Canadian owners of the impacted vehicles will be formally notified about this safety recall via mail starting in February 2024.

Alternatively, owners can personally verify if their vehicles fall within the recall by visiting the dedicated recall pages on the Acura and Honda websites or by contacting Honda’s customer service at 1-888-946-6329.
