Oak Bay Police catch and release repeat offender caught with stolen property

Share

Late last week, a man who has been caught with stolen property recently, was once again found breaking into unlocked cars in Oak Bay.

At around 3:10 a.m. on Monday, November 27th, Oak Bay Police officers attended the scene of a car alarm being sounded in the night in the 500-block of Oliver Street.

Nearby, a young, 24-year-old man was seen running from the scene, so officers pursued him and located him shortly thereafter.

On the young suspect’s person was a wallet that had been stolen containing credit cards that had been fraudulently used in October. He also had two pairs of presumed stolen Ray Ban sunglasses and a knife, according to police.

Police arrested him that night for possession of stolen property and was subsequently released with pending charges.

Later that week, the same young suspect was allegedly caught in the act once again.

At around 11:25 a.m. on Friday, December 1st, police say they found this suspect in the 1700-block of Hampshire Road stealing items out of unlocked cars on the street.

He was arrested once again with additional charges and then released once again.

Police say the wallets and credit cards found in his possession have since been returned to their rightful owners.
