Avid pickleball players and those hoping to try it, this is for you!

The City of Victoria has released some exciting news for lovers of the sport—as a part of the OUR DWTN revitalization program, there will be two temporary pickleball courts installed.

They’ve chosen the grand historical building and conference centre, Crystal Gardens, to host the courts, and they’ll be available for use from January 9th to February 18th!

“Victoria Regional Pickleball Association is applauding the introduction of the fastest growing sport in Canada in the iconic Crystal Garden,” said Connie McCann, president of the Victoria Regional Pickleball Association.

“Pickleball in Beacon Hill Park has been a resounding success and we expect local and visiting players will embrace playing in the Crystal Garden as well.”

The City has watched pickleball grow in popularity in a short period of time, and they believe this pop-up installation will offer the community a chance to see what this high demand sport is all about as well as improve skill.

It’s fitting to host the court in the heart of downtown, as it’s directly aligned with the City’s  Strategic Plan to enhance supports and amenities for recreational, youth and professional sport in the city.

The pickleball courts will be available for a mix of drop-in times, court reservations, and registered programs.

Program information will be available online on December 12th and registration will open on December 14th at 12 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to register to play—whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a beginner, casual player!
