Get those throwing arms ready, Victoria!
One of the Victoria Royals’ most anticipated home games of the season is taking place this weekend at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.
After a hiatus of over two weeks from the barn on Blanshard due to a road trip, the Royals are returning to action this weekend with back-to-back games against the Tri-City Americans.
Following this Friday’s game at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre (which you don’t want to miss), the Royals will be preparing for one of the biggest games of the season on Saturday, December 16th, where thousands of teddy bears will rain down on the home team after the Royals score their first goal.
The Royals’ annual Teddy Bear Toss encourages hockey fans in attendance to bring new or gently used stuffed toys to toss on the ice.
All the plush stuffed animals will be cleaned, dried, and delivered to several local charities working hard to spread Christmas cheer to those in need.
For the Friday game, Royals’ fans are encouraged to support local businesses by wearing their ugliest Christmas sweater. Attendees will have the opportunity to compete for the title of the Ugliest Christmas Sweater.
This holiday-themed weekend hopes to inspire everyone to spread Christmas cheer and offers various opportunities to celebrate together.
Fans at the game can snag a free photo with Santa, providing families with a great alternative for those still seeking this experience without waiting in line or spending a bunch of money at a mall!
Additionally, there will be a holiday craft market, allowing people to purchase last-minute gifts from local vendors. This will be accompanied by live music in the concourse performed by Rob Fillo, a local singer-songwriter.
And of course, the concourse will be adorned with decorations, creating a festive holiday atmosphere.
