Man arrested after BC Ferries staff observed him exposing himself aboard vessel

Share

A man was arrested last week after allegedly exposing himself aboard a BC Ferries vessel.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 11th, on a vessel travelling from Tsawwassen ferry to Swartz Bay.

In an email statement, Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said BC Ferries staff observed the man exposing himself prompting them to notify RCMP.

RCMP officers then met ferry staff when the boat docked at Swartz Bay, where the man was arrested for committing an indecent act. He was released with a future court date.

Police provided the man a drive to a shelter because of the extreme weather conditions.

“Sidney RCMP would like to thank the actions of BC Ferries staff. They dealt with this situation in a manner that ensured the safety of passengers and facilitated officers getting onto the boat quickly once it docked,” states Cst. Tim Cosgrove, media relations officer for Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.

There is no threat to the public and this case is still under investigation.
