Attention, foodies!
Yelp has officially released their 2024 list of top 100 places to eat in Canada and Vancouver Island is home to five of them.
Map yourself a little road trip and zip as far as Nanaimo to take a peek at what these incredible hotspots have to offer.
Taking the 36th spot is Shirley’s very own Shirley Delicious—and if you’ve had the pleasure of visiting, this will come as no surprise.
Shirley Delicious is a little cafe nestled in the woods, and is a must-stop on the way to Jordan River or Port Renfrew.
It’s always bustling with lively glee and they offer all sorts of goodies including speciality coffee, homemade treats, and delectable lunch options.
Next top Vancouver Island location is Fishhook in Victoria, taking the 40th spot on the list. This cozy restaurant is a popular local seafood stop, with an Indian-French flair.
They offer a variety of sustainable, locally-sourced, and farm-fresh ingredients in their menu—which means they always have a rotating and delicious seasonal feature!
The 48th and 52nd slots are taken by Victoria restaurants Red Fish Blue Fish and Jam Cafe.
Red Fish Blue Fish is a seasonal community favourite for fish and chips and they only serve Ocean Wise seafood, so you know it’s fresh and sustainably caught.
They’ve made it into Lonely Planet’s guide, land a segment On Food Network Canada’s Eat Street, and have become one of Victoria’s most cherished eateries.
If you haven’t eaten at Jam Cafe yet, you’ll have to amend that as quickly as possible. It’s a must-try brunch spot that always has a line and never disappoints.
From their incredibly crisp and buttery fried chicken, house-made cornbread and buttermilk biscuits, to their popular selection of eggs benedict, there’s something that’ll tickle anyone’s taste buds.
A Nanaimo restaurant, Astera’s Greek Taverna, secured the 81st spot on the list and they serve classic Greek plates such as moussaka, seafood and lamb, with global wines.
