17-year-old suffers serious leg injury in hit and run incident in Saanich


Saanich Police are looking for witnesses following a hit and run accident that left a teen with a serious leg injury.

At around 8:20 a.m. this morning, a 17-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after being struck by a dark green SUV in the intersection of Blenkinsop Road and Cedar Hill X Road.

According to reports from the Saanich Police, the victim was crossing the street in the marked crosswalk when the incident occurred. The driver of the SUV, who was traveling eastbound on Cedar Hill X Road, turned left onto Blenkinsop Road, colliding with the pedestrian.

The impact resulted in serious leg injuries for the young woman, who was immediately attended to by emergency services at the scene.

The Saanich Police Traffic Safety Unit has launched an investigation into the incident and is actively seeking to identify the driver involved. Authorities are urging any witnesses to come forward and provide information that could assist in the investigation.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any footage of the intersection around the time of the collision to contact the Saanich Police Department,” stated a spokesperson for the department.
