Environment Canada hinting that Victoria could see a sprinkle of snow on Thursday

As cherry blossoms paint the downtown streets with delicate hues of pink, Victoria residents might want to hold off on stowing away their shovels just yet.

Despite the apparent arrival of spring, Environment Canada’s latest weather has a cautionary forecast, suggesting that snow could make an unexpected appearance in the region on Thursday night.

The forecast predicts a blend of cloudy skies with a 70 percent chance of rain showers or flurries, accompanied by gusty winds.

Despite daytime temperatures reaching a high of 8°C, southern Vancouver Island, including Victoria, could experience a dusting of snowfall as the week comes to a close.

While it might seem incongruous with the blossoming scenery, the impending cool down signals a shift in weather patterns. A band of moisture making its way towards the region on Thursday into Friday could transform into snowfall, disrupting the anticipated springtime tranquility.

And while snow is in the forecast, it likely won’t last very long as temperatures appear to return to normal with highs reaching 10°C over the weekend.

Areas of potential snowfall concentrate predominantly in regions such as Cowichan, Malahat, and Campbell River on the central island.

These areas might experience more significant accumulations compared to others.
