Victoria’s HAVN sauna boat completes its transformation with addition of lounge and café (PHOTOS)

The HAVN sauna boat has been remarkably successful since it underwent a transformation from an old, dilapidated barge, to an oasis of wellness and relaxation.

They have three unique saunas as well as two hot tubs, a cold plunge tub and an ambient tub as well as shelter perfect for reading a book in between the sauna rotation.

Now, they have opened up the latest addition to the barge which is a lounge space, complete with a café stocked with locally sourced food and beverages.

Kurtis Vallee, co-owner of HAVN, told Victoria Buzz that they wanted the space to align with their core values and with the experience of the sauna boat.

Thus, the food and beverages will be health and wellness focussed and they will not be serving alcohol on board.

However, they will have a plethora of non-alcoholic beverages for their guests to enjoy and they have even crafted a menu of elixirs that are delicious and have various health benefits which are detailed in their menu.

For example, The Majik Algae Aloe elixir is high in vitamin B12 and plant-based protein which can increase energy levels naturally.

This drink will also aid in soothing the digestive system because of the aloe vera, and the coconut water in this drink will increase electrolytes and help with hydration to allow for better muscle function and water retention.

In addition to the elixirs, the café menu will offer dairy-free, gluten-free bone broth made locally at Nourish Café, coffee from Mile Zero roastery, near beers from Nonny and rotating kombuchas.

The food menu features charcuterie with locally sourced Vancouver Island meats, cheeses and preserves as well as trail mix and other locally made snacks.

In the space, there is ample sitting room with comfortable and modern chairs and couches strewn about the room and there is a book wall to choose something to read while you relax, or you can just stare out the massive window at the barge’s stern and meditate.

Vallee believes that by adding this long-planned aspect to the experience at HAVN, people will be able to spread out a bit more and it will ultimately improve the client’s stay.

However, he did want to stipulate that for now, they won’t be increasing the capacity they offer currently to avoid any of the spa’s many spaces feeling overcrowded.

Currently HAVN is pretty close booked up solid for weeks, with some exceptions, and it has been like that since their opening day.

If you want to go and check it out, you’ll have to plan ahead! Book your experience online here.
