Colwood’s beloved Hatley Castle will be the star of another movie (PHOTOS)

Colwood’s beloved Hatley Castle is about to become the star of another Hollywood film!

If you saw a ton of film crew on the Royal Roads campus, it was for an upcoming movie called Fate.

Directed by Jonathan Baker, the movie features a star-studded cast including Harvey Keitel, Andrew McCarthy, and Faye Dunaway.

Baker took to social media to announce that the castle will be known as the Vista Hotel in the movie, inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s Hollywood theatre called The Vista.

The movie is about a firefighter who, after a rescue mission gone wrong, encounters a supernatural visitor while rehabilitating at a sanitarium.

This encounter transports him through time, and he realizes that the only thing that can save his soul is the discovery of true love.

While production wrapped up at the castle on Tuesday, filming is expected to return to other Victoria landmarks.

In 2019, Hatley Castle was named one of the top 10 movie locations to visit in the world by The Travel.

Built over 100 years ago, Hatley Castle was first constructed in 1908. It has transitioned from a dormitory and mess hall for Royal Roads Military College cadets to the new administrative centre for the current Royal Roads University.

The century-old castle has been featured in a number of movies and television series, like Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters in the X-Men movies and Deadpool films, Fox TV’s Bones, the CW’s Smallville, the 1980s classic MacGyver, and many many more.

Make sure to keep an eye out for movie stars roaming around Victoria!
