Elderly driver suffers minor injuries after car plunges over embankment at Clover Point (PHOTOS)

An elderly driver is lucky to have walked away with minor injuries after their vehicle plunged over the embankment at Clover Point on Saturday.

Just after 3 p.m. May 25th, emergency services responded to a motor vehicle incident at Clover Point along Dallas Road.

Upon their arrival, the crews discovered a single car that had driven off the embankment, landing precariously on its side and partially on its roof.

The vehicle’s airbags had deployed, cushioning the impact and undoubtedly contributing to the fortunate outcome for the driver.

Despite the severity of the crash, the sole occupant, who managed to self-extricate from the wreckage, suffered only non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a post by the Victoria Fire Department, paramedics were already on scene treating the driver as the arrived.

Fire fighters secured the vehicle to prevent any further incidents before the car was eventually removed by a tow truck.

“No passengers were in the vehicle and the driver was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries,” a VicPD spokesperson told Victoria Buzz.

“Officers attended and the investigation was concluded as no criminality or foul play were suspected to be contributing factors. No tickets have been issued.”

Witnesses at the scene say the car appeared to be parked before it sped off the embankment and onto the rocks below.
