Here’s how your kids can play NHL Street Hockey with VicPD officers this summer

Summer just got a whole lot more exciting for young hockey enthusiasts in Victoria and Langford.

The NHL Street Hockey Victoria program, which has been a huge hit in the past, is back for 2024 and registration is now open—but not for much longer!

The program has also expanded to include games in Langford, ensuring even more kids have the chance to hit the streets for some hockey fun.

The program is part of the NHL STREET initiative, created in partnership with RCX Sports.

This community-focused league is designed specifically for kids aged 6 to 16, providing a unique opportunity to play hockey in a fun, energetic, and inclusive environment.

Participants will don authentic NHL street uniforms, playing in high-energy 3-on-3 games complete with goalies.

This year, the program will be held at two locations:

  • Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre at 1925 Blanshard Street
  • Starlight Stadium at 1089 Langford Pkwy

Games are scheduled for Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with each game lasting between 30 and 45 minutes. The exact schedules will be provided one to two weeks before the season begins.

A standout feature of NHL Street Hockey Victoria is its emphasis on community involvement and inclusivity.

There are no try-outs, ensuring that every child who registers gets to participate. Each player will receive a reversible NHL Street hockey jersey and all necessary equipment, from balls to goalie gear, is provided.

The program also relies on parent volunteers to coach the teams. Interested parents can sign up to volunteer during the registration process.

Contributions from local businesses allow the Victoria City Police Athletic Association to organize and fund the event, ensuring it is accessible to all children, regardless of their financial situation.

Families with concerns about participation costs are encouraged to reach out to for assistance.

Registration for NHL Street Hockey Victoria is open from March 4th, through May 21st. The season kicks off on June 25th and concludes on July 30th, with no blackout dates and contingency plans for makeup dates if needed.
