Yesterday, West Shore RCMP responded to a motorist experiencing a medical emergency while driving on the Trans-Canada Highway.

At around 10:18 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21st, officers and paramedics attended the scene when someone called in that a car had driven off the road and onto the highway’s median near the Helmcken Road off-ramp.

The vehicle in question was a flat-deck tow truck and the only occupant was a 49-year-old who had been driving, according to police.

West Shore RCMP did not reveal the nature of the man’s medical emergency.

Police say that the paramedics on the scene attempted to save the man’s life; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

West Shore RCMP then contacted the BC Coroners Service and informed them that there was no foul play suspected in this death.

No others were reported to have been injured in this incident.
