What’s this? A sunny weekend? Could it be?

Soak up some rays while you engage in one or several of the incredible events happening in and around Victoria this weekend!

Check out some of Victoria’s hottest patios, immerse yourself in Filipino culture at the Mabuhay! festival, check out the Fernwood Art Stroll, attend Sunday’s India Fest, shop at an Indigenous makers market, and so much more.

If you’re hoping to escape the sun for a bit (we’ll try not to judge), McPherson Playhouse is hosting Chris Thile, Herald Street Brew Works is hosting a knitting event, and Crystal Pool is hosting a Pride swim.

Without further ado, here’s 15 things to do in and around Victoria this weekend—June 8th and 9th:

Victoria Harbour Cats (including fireworks)

The Victoria Harbourcats’ season is well underway on the road, and with the team slated to return home for their first home games this weekend.

While the team plays tonight, the first Saturday home game of the season, on June 8th, will feature the first of four always-popular fireworks nights, also scheduled for June 30th (Canada Day), July 13th, and August 5th (BC Day).

Battle of the Dad Bands

Put on those leather pants and cheer for your favourite band as they cover legendary hits at the Capital Ballroom!

All ticket proceeds support the Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock, funding life-saving research and programs like Camp Goodtimes.

Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m.. Don’t miss the return of Last Night in Vegas, Big Font, and Not 4 Public Consumption!

Mabuhay! Celebration

Are you ready for a day full of dancing and singing, children’s activities, exhibits displaying traditional Filipino culture, and, of course tons of delicious Filipino food?

This weekend, from Saturday, June 8th to Sunday, June 9th, the Victoria Filipino-Canadian Association is hosting a Mabuhay! event in Centennial Square.

This annual celebration showcases the arts, history, cuisine, and more that goes into this vibrant culture.

Take your family and friends downtown and immerse yourself in the traditions of the Filipino-Canadians and experience their warmth firsthand!

Fernwood Art Stroll

This weekend is calling for sun, making it the perfect time to check out the 16th annual Fernwood Art Stroll from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The stroll gives residents and visitors alike the opportunity to experience the studios, homes, gardens and art of the participants.

Ocean Week Victoria

If you haven’t already heard, it’s Ocean Week in Victoria!

It kicked off on Saturday, June 1st and is back to provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate our deep blue neighbour and all the creatures that live there.

There are a multitude of events happening throughout the week, and some of this weekend’s highlights include an ocean-themed Clover Point parkrun, a low tide sketching class, a jewelry workshop, Fisherman’s Wharf celebration and much more!

They’ll be featuring a variety of fun activities including Coast Salish art workshops and game tent, Indigenous drum and dance groups, Indigenous artisans market, free Bannock taco lunch and much more!

Village Block Party

Cook Street Village invites everyone back for their Village Block Party event this Sunday!

India Fest

The India Canada Cultural Association (ICCA) is hosting an India Fest, which will showcase Indian talent in performing arts such as dance, music, folk arts, theatre, exhibitions and more!

It will take place in Beckwith Park on Sunday, June 9th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.—aimed to celebrate Indian culture, multicultural arts and bilateral cultural connections.

India Fest is a family-friendly event, and on top of live entertainment, will also include floor dances, games and a bouncy castle for kids.

There will also be vendors selling food, clothing, and jewelery in case you’re in the mood to shop—whether it’s a gift for yourself or others, you’ll find something unique to bring home!

Inclusive Pride Swim

Everyone is welcome at the Crystal Pool & Fitness Centre for an inclusive swim!
