55-year-old motorcyclist dies in single-vehicle crash near Durrance Lake


A 55-year-old Saanich resident has passed away following a motorcycle collision near Durrance Lake Thursday evening.

The incident occurred shortly after 5p.m. June 20th in the 200-block of Willis Point Road.

Responding police officers found the rider suffering from severe injuries and initiated life-saving measures before Saanich Fire and BC Emergency Health Services took over medical care.

Despite all efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries after being transported to hospital.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Saanich Police in a statement.

The single-vehicle crash is currently under investigation by collision analysts, who are focusing on early indications that suggest speed may have been a contributing factor.

The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released.

As the investigation continues, Saanich Police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in determining the circumstances leading to the crash.
