Sometimes the best way to feel inspired is to watch others in their element!

Check out what some of our talented community members have accomplished by attending a few author events in Victoria over the next couple of weeks.

These events stretch across a couple of genres—from a children’s book with gorgeous illustrations, to a wondrous collection of 2SLGBTQ+ stories!

Choose your own adventure, tap into your own creativity and support our local creators and bookstores.

Here’s three upcoming author-related events in and around the city to check out:

Caroline Woodward and illustrator Claire Watson

Have You Ever Heard a Whale Exhale is a children’s picture book that takes you on a journey through the senses.

“From sun-warmed rocks to crackling campfires, this is one book that leaps with the dolphins and barks with the sea lions,” a description reads.

This event is open to all ages, and there will be books available for purchase and signing at the event.

It’s free to attend, but everyone has to RSVP first—you can do so here

  • Where: Bolen Books, 1644 Hillside Avenue #111
  • When: Wednesday, June 19th at 7 p.m.

Maria Koropecky

St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall will be hosting a book signing and fundraising event for local authorMaria Koropecky!

Her book, Closer to Indigo, follows her mid-life pilgrimage journey along the Camino de Santiago in Spain fueled her creativity and inspired her to self-publish.

Since publishing, she has expanded her storytelling to the screen with the series Saanich: Emerging Land; Emerging People, based on scenes from her book.

Now, she wishes to bring her narrative to a wider audience by making it accessible via Audible, which requires a lot of time and funds to see completed. To shoulder some of the costs, she has started a fundraising campaign, and is hoping to raise funds to see this dream become reality.

The fundraising event at the church will feature a talk by Maria, a viewing of episode eight “Sunflowers and Dragonflies” from her TV series, followed by a Q&A session and book signing.

Closer to Indigo will be available to purchase on-site for anyone that is interested!
