Here’s what’s happening at this year’s Canada Day celebrations in Parksville

If you’re searching for Canada Day celebrations, the City of Parksville is hosting a wonderful lineup of activities and family-friendly entertainment!

On Monday, July 1st, join Parksville residents and visitors alike as they chime in on Canada’s 157th anniversary of Confederation with highlights such as the classic annual parade, a food truck festival, buskers and other performances.

The party will begin with the Shriner’s breakfast and the beloved parade along Island Highway East. The other activities to follow will be held in the Parksville Community Park! 

Below is the map for the Canada Day parade route, with associated road closures, delays and detours that will be in effect from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Noteworthy happenings include the Parksville Outdoor Theatre, featuring Bobs and Lolo for the young and young at heart at 1 p.m.; the band Apollos, who will provide afternoon dance music at 2:30 p.m.; and buskers that will perform in the new gathering plaza from 1 p.m. to early evening. 

The Parksville Canada Day Food Truck Festival will be offering a feast fit for every taste bud—complete with some of the region’s most popular food trucks, there’s bound to be something (or several things) for you!

The food trucks will be open from 11 a.m. to early evening near the sports fields in Parksville Community Park.

Tasty options include The Pepper Pot, Van Isle Poutinerie, Catalina Chocolate Company, JP’Eats Firehouse Kitchen & Grill Ltd., Ala Cart Hotdogs and many more.

According to their event page, the Parksville Community Park will be open for vehicle parking and there will be no fireworks in the evening.
