It was Jane Austen that said, “To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment”—and that is exactly what Paper Street Theatre invites you to do.
Step back into the romantic and powerful era of Jane Austen in a play at the Emily Carr House—held on Fridays and Saturdays from Friday, July 12th to Saturday, July 27th.
With the gorgeous historic Emily Carr House as the backdrop and surrounded by lush greenery, this is sure to be a special show.
Produced by Join Paper Street Theatre, the cast will treat audiences to a fully improvised show, creating on-the-spot bits and banter as they work through the conventions and constraints of proper Jane Austen society.
“Jane Austen infuses her characters with so much wit that her stories still feel relevant today,” said Dave Morris, Artistic Director.
“This show is a perennial audience favourite. This year we’re delighted to offer matinee performances as well—perfect for afternoon tea.”
Tickets are $28 and include complimentary lemonade and cucumber sandwiches.
For those that are unfamiliar, Paper Street Theatre is an award-winning Victoria-based company that specializes in creating improvisation shows that feels like theatre.
They’re in their 10th season, and have tackled genres ranging from Agatha Christie to Grimm Fairytales to Quentin Tarantino. They have toured all over Canada and Europe, bringing delight and merriment wherever they go.
