‘We’re about building connections’: Esquimalt Farmers Market set to open in Gorge Park

Esquimalt’s beloved farmers market will open for the first time this season in Gorge Park this coming Monday.

This is the only waterfront farmers market in the city and is located right next to the iconic Gorge Park Pavillion.

With the opening of the Monday market at Gorge Park, the Esquimalt Farmers Market’s 2024 season is officially in full swing.

At the market, there is farm-fresh produce, artisanal crafts as well as a diverse array of offerings from local vendors.

At every market, there is also a variety of food truck vendors serving hot meals and family-friendly live entertainment which features numerous local musicians.

“At the Esquimalt Farmers Market, we’re not just about buying and selling — we’re about building connections,” says Melanie Langdon-Wilkins, Executive Director.

“It’s a place where neighbours come together to support local farmers, artisans, and small businesses while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and sense of camaraderie.”

She added that the Esquimalt Farmers Market does its best to promote sustainability and localized economic endeavours to better the community.

The Esquimalt Farmers Market runs bi-weekly, whether rain or shine. They open on Mondays in Gorge Park Esquimalt and on Thursdays in Memorial Park.

The first Monday market will be this coming Monday, June 17th and will be open from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

At this season opener, a special ceremony will be performed by The Aunty Collective and live music will be performed by Andi Stewart and Rob Fillo, two community favourites.

Information can be found online for details on all the vendors that will be in attendance as well as upcoming events.
