Recycling won’t be impacted despite large fire at Rock Bay facility (VIDEO)

Recycling won’t be impacted after a large fire erupted at a recycling centre in Victoria’s Rock Bay neighbourhood early Wednesday morning.

The fire started shortly after midnight on July 10th at the Cascades Recovery+ plant located at 2800 Bridge Street.

While the facility itself was undamaged during the fire, a large amount of stored recyclables, as well as several pallets of styrofoam and electronics, were destroyed.

The Bridge Street facility confirmed it will be business as usual.

“There are no service impacts following the overnight fire,” said Recycle BC. “We are in touch with our partners and monitoring the situation should any changes arise.”

Video posted to the Victoria Buzz Facebook group shows several firetrucks on the scene as they worked to knock the fire down.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
