Jungle and Drama had Phillips Backyard dancing for ‘Reverb’ finale (PHOTOS)

Last certainly isn’t least at the ‘Reverb’ Phillips Backyard Music Festival!

This was the largest number of people the Phillips Backyard Music Festival has ever hosted, and it will surely be one to remember.

Local newcomers to the scene Posh Coat was up first and got things started with an energetic burst of rock ‘n’ roll.

Posh Coat just released their debut EP and have already been featured as a Band of the Month at The Zone at 91-3, and they’re only just getting started. Keep an eye out for this band as they are bound to do great things in the near future.

Next up was Nicky MacKenzie, who is no stranger to the Phillips Backyard Music Festival as she played the stage two years ago.

This time around, MacKenzie brought with her some new songs, a fully fleshed out band and two backup dancers which added a nice new element to her live performance.

Once the dancers, who she said are her besties, came out with her, the vibe switched to a fun 80s dance party and this energy would continue on throughout the day as people braced themselves for Jungle.

After Nicky MacKenzie, DJ Murge took the stage and began his set solo in order to warm up the crowd before he brought out some special guests to join him.

His first guest was Saundra Williams, a renowned soul/R&B vocalist all the way from Hackensack, New Jersey.

Williams used to be a member of the Dapettes, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings backup vocalists.

She joined Murge for the better part of his set, which together they created a fun, wholesome and dancey vibe that was reminiscent of club music from the late 90s, or early 2000s.

Following Murge, the duo Drama came out on stage and put on a really special performance that would tee-up Jungle’s set perfectly.

This Chicago-based group consists of Na’el Shehade and vocalist/songwriter Via Rosa. They are known best for their unique blend of R&B, dance, pop, hip hop, jazz, bossa nova and electronic.

During their set, Rosa was acting as the perfect inspiration for audience members to get weird with their dancing as she waved, bopped and flopped across the stage.

Last up for the evening, taking the stage just as the sun set in a cloud of smoke was the one and only Jungle.

Jungle is who most people in the sold-out crowd came to see this weekend, and they did not disappoint with their percussive bops reverberating through everyone’s bodies and souls.

They came all the way from London, England and have become one of the most renowned dance bands in the world.

After the first few songs, there wasn’t a still body in the entire backyard, and that’s when the beach balls came out.

They played until it was dark and everybody was spent from dancing.

This year’s Phillips Backyard Music Festivals, Tilt and Reverb, were ones to remember and will certainly have people looking forward to what’s in store for them next year.
