Campbell River woman sustains life-threatening injuries after attack in her own home

A 24-year-old man faces charges of assault, aggravated assault, and forcible confinement following an attack on a woman in her Campbell River home.

On August 1st, RCMP responded to a 911 call from a woman who reported that she was being assaulted.

Police arrived at the residence of a 44-year-old woman who had been “severely assaulted” and transported her to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A 24-year-old man, Maitland Campbell, was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.

Police said both the victim and the accused are known to each other.

Campbell appeared in court on August 2nd and is scheduled to return to court on August 9th.

He faces charges including:

  • Aggravated Sexual Assault
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Forcible Confinement

The incident is being investigated by the Campbell River RCMP major crime unit. Police said they would not release further details while the case is ongoing.
