Thousands are without power in View Royal after a motor vehicle incident on the Old Island Highway.
The crash occurred just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday near the fire hall. Photos from the scene show a U-Haul truck crashing into a hydro pole severing it near the bottom.
According to West Shore RCMP, the single vehicle collision occurred on Island Highway at Burnett Road.
Traffic has been shut down in both directions until BC Hydro can arrive on scene.
Expect major delays in this area, please plan an alternate route if you plan on traveling through this area.
In an email statement, West Shore RCMP media spokesperson Cpl. Nancy Saggar said the road could be closed for hours.
