Just a heads-up if you have outdoor plans this weekend.
Wildfire smoke has begun to blanket much of Vancouver Island and is expected to linger for most of the weekend.
According to Firesmoke.ca, smoke has already covered much of the island and is expected to persist until the early hours of Sunday.
Much of the smoke appears to be coming from wildfires in the US Pacific Northwest, as winds continue to push it in a northern direction.
The current air quality index is 3, which is considered low risk; however, it is expected to increase to 4, raising the rating to moderate risk.
