For lovers of drama, comedy, spoken word, late-night cabarets and more, you won’t want to miss this!

The 38th annual Victoria Fringe Festival is set to return next week, running from Wednesday, August 21st to Sunday, September 1st.

There will be 150 performances from 28 local, national and international talented artists at venues across downtown Victoria!

Plus, they’re excited to continue last year’s introduction of Unconventional Venue shows to their program lineup this year, which will once again feature four off-site venues provided by artists.

These locations will highlight non-traditional theatre experiences that involve walking/moving shows, outdoor shows and a familiar neighbourhood coffee shop!

You’ll have the opportunity to check out a number of different live entertainment genres—including dance, comedy, drama, kids programming, spoken word and late-night cabarets.

Try a bit of everything across this iconic 12 day festival of unique indie theatre!

Some of the many shows include ‘Castle of Glass,’ written by Jeremy James Sinclair, and is a folk-rock fairytale about finding purpose amongst a quarter-life crisis.

Cabaret of Murder’ created by Blair Moro, showcases three powerhouse women combining humour and terror as they present works of art made by serial killers. This must-see show sold out in both Edmonton and Vancouver in 2023.

Created by Ti Malik Coleman, ‘40 Year Old Puberty’ is storytelling at its finest, with both heart-warming and laugh-out-loud funny tellings of a man undergoing a second puberty at the age of 40.

If this sounds incredible and you’re aching to learn more, you can catch their free Fringe Eve Preview on Wednesday, August 21st from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Market Square.

Attendees will catch some guest performances, get the chance to browse an Indigenous Artisans Market, as well as sneak peeks into this year’s festival—led by hosts J McLaughlin and Henrietta Dubet!
