One man was arrested after he allegedly attacked four youths on the Galloping Goose Trail on Wednesday.
West Shore RCMP responded to a violent incident on September 4th, near Atkins Avenue and Westwind Drive in Langford.
The assault, reported around 10:22 p.m., involved an unidentified man wearing a balaclava and armed with a knife. Following a brief altercation in which the teens were attacked with bear mace, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
One of the victims sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries from being cut by a knife and was transported to hospital for further care. The other three youths were treated at the scene by paramedics.
Shortly after, at 10:27 p.m., RCMP received another report from a nearby home on Kingswood Drive regarding a man behaving erratically, matching the description of the suspect. With the help of a West Shore RCMP police dog, officers located and arrested the suspect.
Police seized a can of bear mace and a knife believed to have been used in the attack. The motive for the assault remains unclear, as the suspect and victims were not known to each other.
The suspect, a 32-year-old Langford man, was held in custody and made a court appearance on September 5th.
